Two people were arrested in Surat and Navsari Thursday for allegedly posting “objectionable content” on their respective social media platforms related to Operation Sindoor, said police.
The police identified the accused as Riyaz Qureshi and Mahendra Patel.With these two cases, so far 17 such alleged objectionable cases have been reported from Gujarat.
Acting on directions from Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi, police have been monitoring the social media activity for objectionable posts. In one of such incidents, Surat’s Bhestan police found that Riyaz Qureshi, a resident of Bhestan and native of Uttar Pradesh, had allegedly uploaded a photo on Facebook showing two Indian Army jawans standing beside a terrorist.
